UPMC Health plan is the second-largest health insurer in western Pennsylvania and is owned by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), a global health enterprise. The integrated partner companies of UPMC’s Insurance Services Division, which include UPMC Health Plan, offer products and services to nearly 2.3 million members. Their local provider network includes UPMC and community providers, totaling more than 125 hospitals and more than 11,500 physicians throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, and Maryland.
UPMC Health Plan presented the Plus+ team with disjointed applications and processes, and no way to integrate their vast amount of customer information into a single database. Plus+ assisted UPMC in defining the data that would be incorporated into the new system. This included customer plan information, customer demographics, and customer purchases made through the online health insurance shopping tool. UPMC Health Plan needed to integrate their various programs, streamline processes, and increase efficiency by bringing all of their valuable customer data together in one platform, in real-time, and with analytics that prove their efforts to lead their business to customer (B2C) engagements.
