Com-Net Ericsson, Inc., with headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and operations in Lynchburg, Virginia, designs, constructs, and maintains wireless communications sites for cellular and PCS service carriers throughout the U.S. In addition, Com-Net Ericsson Critical Radio Systems offers similar solutions to the land mobile radio market with a proven, state-of-the-art two-way radio communications system.
Plus Consulting worked with Com-Net Ericsson's Executive Management Team to develop an overall IT Strategy at a time when the organization was being acquired and going through radical change. The IT Strategy led to the selection and acquisition of entirely new back office systems including a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System and a new Engineering System.
RESULT:
The number of engineering software packages being supported by IT was reduced from more than 350 to less than 100 with one standard engineering development tool being established for all activities going forward. Business IT systems were similarly standardized resulting in the selection and implementation of a new enterprise wide ERP system. As a result of the standardization/consolidation of systems and the resources required to support those systems, radical degrees of efficiency were realized in both business and IT operational units and the IT support budget was reduced by several million dollars annually.
